Our Director

David Bowen

David Bowen is the founder and director of Mid Coast Certifiers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the company, with 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. His building surveying career began in 2004 as a Building Surveyor at Warringah Council, where he developed his skills in development assessment, compliance, building inspection, and certification. Over the years, David has adapted to changing legislation, becoming an A2 Certifier in the Council system and later transitioning to A3 Certifier in the private sector.

David’s background is rooted in a deep understanding of the complexities involved in building compliance. His diverse roles have given him a detailed knowledge of legislation and standards, and he has developed a keen ability to navigate technically challenging situations. Known for his proactive approach, David excels in identifying and resolving potential compliance issues before they escalate, always ensuring clear communication with the right stakeholders.

David believes that the key to successful certification lies in open and effective communication. Whether working with builders, engineers, architects, or homeowners, he ensures that everyone involved understands the requirements and expectations, helping avoid costly delays or non-compliant issues. His customer-focused attitude and interpersonal skills make him a trusted and reliable certifier.

His work is guided by best practices, including BCS protocols, AAC Professional Standards, and legislative requirements. Even though Mid Coast Certifiers is still in the process of refining administrative processes, David's meticulous approach ensures that every detail is managed correctly, from maintaining thorough records to using industry-leading tools like the BCS cloud-based secure system.

Specialising in Pool & Building Certification

David has extensive experience in certifying swimming pools, ensuring they comply with relevant SEPP codes, Development Consent, and other regulatory requirements. His deep knowledge of pool construction and safety standards ensures that both temporary and permanent barriers are compliant during all stages of construction. His critical eye and nearly two decades of experience make him an expert at identifying potential non-compliance issues early on, providing clients with peace of mind.

Throughout his career, David has never faced any action or investigation by the BPB, Fair Trading, or any authority. This flawless track record is a testament to his dedication, professionalism, and attention to detail.
